WINDOWS 98 SE:: Ah yes, the glory of Microsoft when they ventured beyond the revolution of the graphical interface, and started implementing decent functions. I don’t know much about the operating system, except that it is a much more stable form of Windows 95, and has support for the software that is out there today, mainly any prog or device requires 98, if not Second Edition. I guess SE implemented some upgrades that made more Plug-and-Play more systemic. Adios Amigos, here’s some interesting things I’ve learned while setting up a Fujitsu Lifebook E330 for my friend which I bought for about 70 bucks. 4.5 GB hard drive, 32 MB of RAM, it’s all in good fun, but I wouldn’t venture into OSs higher than 98 SE, just because…
Anyway, it all worked out pretty well, except for installing devices, it keeps asking for the 98 CD. AAAA, jeez, anyway, some of the files I couldn’t find on the CD, and since you can’t browse through to them, I had no idea what I was doing. You can, however, find many of the dll files and sys things for free on the net, so there I was, floppy disk in hand, converting and loading these countless little system files to just install a device. What a headache. Anyway, I have grouped many of the files into a little package you can download HERE. For Windows 98 SE look no further. You can find these files on various sites around the web, and I’m assuming they are generally Public domain because they are useless without a solid core Microsoft OS, but anyway, onward and upward, let’s see if Tripod drops the link because of copyright infringement. If so, look no further than:
